I found a movie making site online yesterday and couldn’t resist playing around with it. So, here are the results. It’s a look at how complicated it is for me to order a glass of water in America. First of all they don’t understand me and on top of that I receive an interrogation.
It’s inspired by my post Yes, I Talk Funny.
I just want a glass of wadda!

LOL – That’s almost made me wet myself! You forgot that we use the Euro-Dollar over here, that the first floor is above the ground floor and something about cricket lasting 5 days!
That is pretty funny… I want some Wadda..
Ant
That is the funniest thing I’ve seen in ages. But you didn’t ask for “no ice”, so it would be a cup of ice with a dash of water in it.
That was SOOO funny!
Ok, that’s very funny. Oh I sorry, what I meant to say is it made me happy as larry. -H
Brilliant. My boys have picked up an American accent here, no idea how, and I find myself ’saying wa T er – it has a T in it’ a lot. Very good.
Love it – am so inspired I am now going to see if I can try this out too. As they say, imitation is the most sincerest form of flattery.
TOO FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Classic!
If you don’t mind I’m going to link to this from my blog.
Been there, done that. I was at a podcasting conference in Ontario, California and, being lunch time, I wanted a sandwich. Not too tricky so far eh? I took me 5 minutes to queue up (sorry, get in line) and 10 minutes to get them to understand precisely WHICH sandwich I wanted. I was still struggling when the guy behind me translated to the folks behind the counter…
Why is it the English can understand American but Americans struggle to understand English?
“Two countries seperated by a common language”. Indeed.
This is the most amazing representation of British expat life in America!
Love it, love it. But in my office in the UK (I’m American and I’ve been here 3 years) they do indeed stop daily–twice daily–for tea breaks, morning (11ish) and afternoon (3:30-4ish) and I’ve been scolded for not spending more time chatting in the tea room (I have work to do…)
