Me (at the moment)

by Lorna Harris on March 23, 2010

BMX and Bougainvillea.

I took this photo on Sunday morning at my son’s BMX lesson.  As soon as I took it, I knew I would be using the photograph as part of Tara’s Gallery.

As a mum of two boys, I spend my life at skate parks and baseball fields, handing out water bottles, fixing shoelaces and wiping mud off faces.

At home I light candles, arrange cut flowers in a vase and plump up pillows so that Nerf battles can take place in beautiful surroundings.

Amongst the farts, burps, cuts, bruises and jokes which is our life on a daily basis, I take a few minutes to stop and smell the bougainvillea, or light a candle.

Just to remind myself that I’m still me, it’s just buried deep amongst all these boys.

Question: do you think your son appreciated the beauty of the bougainvillea?
I love the colour, brings back many memories of exotic trips.

I hear you. I’m becoming a rugby mum (I really quite love it though!). No gorgeous flowers like that near where they train though!

my mum had to do that too – I’ve four brothers, and a Dad who acts a like a kid. No sisters. poor mum.

Lovely pic Lorna. I know what you mean about the boys, I seem to spend my life ferrying around the little monsters to football practice! And I’m fed up of having to deal with wet muddy clothes….

Bougainvillea! How California. There’s a big bush of it outside my mother’s door. Beautiful.
