Oh, pride does come before a fall. As usual, my Sunday morning 9am Starbucks run was eventful. This time there was the loveliest guy ever taking the orders. Lovely smile, very friendly and when I told him my name? Well, he turned to me and said it was ‘beautiful, just beautiful’ and duly wrote it on my cup.
I may have been overly flattered at this point and floated over to the coffee collecting area whilst my latte was made. ‘He said my name was beautiful’ I quietly smiled to myself.
Then my coffee was made.
“Grande non-fat latte for…
LUNA!’
Luna? Luna? But I thought my name was beautiful. No, it’s not as dreamy and romantic as Luna, that’s a beautiful name.
I collected my latte and headed for the door.
For ten minutes as I drank my coffee, the printed LUNA was turned proudly outwards for all to see.
At least whilst I drank my coffee, I had a beautiful name.

Haha! I love that
We should be together …. Moon and Luna (see what I did there ….)
A whole coffee where you could be someone who has a whole other life. Did you live in a garrett writing poetry with a tortured impressionist genius lover? Where you riding a horse across the whole west coast of the USA? What fun!
Awwww… bless.
Although personally think Luna is very dippy name and Lorna far more sophisticated one. So there. You are saved by my wisdom.
LCM x
Isn’t there a Luna in Harry Potter? That’s probably where he got it from. You should have put him right and told him to read Lorna Doone…..
That totally made me laugh. Thank you! I also roared my head off at your blog title – I only came across your blog recently and was intrigued. Thank you!
yes nappyvalleygirl, luna lovegood is my daughter’s favorite hp character
and i agree with lcm about your name!
At least he didn’t write” loco”! I did giggle at this one though. Sorry I missed you this trip (we had a quick trip down to Disney, how I hate LA traffic) but we I know our paths will cross soon, they are bound to.
Ooh, hello Luna!! Lovely name! Tee hee hee!
I think there IS a Luna in Harry Potter.
I have a good friend in Scotland, named Lorna. It sounds nicer in a Scottish accent, I think. Laohrrrrrna, instead of lorna-rhying-with-corner. Wonder how they say it round you way.
Like LCM I’m thinking “eugh! Luna! Eugh! Luna’s a name for the sort of girl who’s wetter than a fish’s wet bits….” and then I’m thinking “but why? I’ve never met a Luna, I’m sure there a lots of perfectly lovely Luna’s out there”. And then Iota hits the nail on the head. Read your HP and then tell us you want to be called Luna…. She’s AWFUL!
And Lorna – well Lorna’s all wild and dramatic and very beautiful (or maybe I spent my formative years reading too much RD Blackmore…)
